The Mark Tree™ was invented in 1967 by LA studio percussionist Mark Stevens. Not knowing what to call his new percussive invention, he turned to studio legend Emil Richards, who dubbed the new instrument the "Mark Tree".

In 2003 Spectrasound™ was acquired by Grover Pro Percussion. The original Mark Tree™ is now available EXCLUSIVELY from Grover.

Every Spectrasound™ Mark Tree™ features a beautifully finished Beech header bar, durable nylon bar ties which maximize bar swing to allow for sustained motion, nodally drilled bar holes and high polish aluminum or brass bars. In addition, each Mark Tree™ comes pre-drilled to accept our easily fitting damper bar. Using a unique barrel nut attachment system, you can attach, or remove your damper in 30 seconds! Each damper comes with two large chrome tension adjustment knobs which facilitates easy tensioning of damper bar.
